Beers of the week May 23rd, 2022

Our Bottlecraft North Park manager, Gene, selects his favorite beers of the week. You can stay up to date on our beer shop favorites through our news feed and also through our Instagram. A very special all-SARA edition this week!

1. Sante Adairius | Grass City | India Pale Ale, 6.8%

We are beyond excited to welcome Sante Adairius Rustic Ales (frequently shortened to SARA) back onto our shelves and draft-lines! Though they made their name with mixed-fermentation creations, their clean (i.e. brewed without Brettanomyces or bacteria) beers are not to be missed either. Grass City is a thoroughly modern IPA, neither crystal-clear nor cloudy. With Nelson and Citra at the forefront – the same two varietals found in The Pupil by Societe – expect bright tropical tones of gooseberry, key lime and herbal bitterness.

2. Sante Adairius | All Mammals Play | Rustic Pilsner, 5.5%

Speaking of clean beers – do they get much cleaner than a nice pilsner? So light in color as to evoke sun-dried straw, this zesty lager will have you reaching for another can before long. Being unfiltered, there is a slightly greater sense of bready malt to be perceived, but this detracts not a jot. Cheers to uncomplicated beers, executed effortlessly!

3. Sante Adairius | Saison Bernice | Mixed-Fermentation Saison, 6.5%

Saison Bernice is a truly iconic beer and a calling-card. Some breweries have a single beer that encapsulates their entire ethos, one which is pointed to as the ideal first impression and most frequently consumed – Bernice embodies that for Sante Adairius. If you must only limit yourself to a single beer by SARA, make it this one. Upon spying it on our shelves, a longtime industry regular said to me just last week: “This is my favorite beer”. No qualifications, exceptions or reservations. Soft effervescent cereal malt combines with multiple yeast-strains for a sense of delicate eggshell funk. I will be taking home more than one bottle of this, and I recommend that you do too.
