Beers of the week for May 2, 2022

Our Bottlecraft North Park manager, Gene, selects his favorite beers of the week. You can stay up to date on our beer shop favorites through our news feed and also through our Instagram. This week’s theme is May the 4th (be with you)!

1. Logsdon| Intergalactic Cemetery | Dry Hopped Sour, 4%

Pushing the boundaries of the possible in fermentation, Logsdon Farmhouse Ales out of Hood River has experimented with a yeast never intended for brewing beer. Given the moniker “Wildbrew Philly Sour”, this strain was discovered in a Philadelphia graveyard and produces both ethanol and lactic acid – these tasks are usually subcontracted out separately to the tag-team of Saccharomyces and Lactobacillus. With a judicious dry-hopping regimen of Galaxy and Citra to boost the tropical quotient, the resulting beer boasts hefty carbonation, tart lemonade aromas and remarkably full flavor for a mere 4% ABV creation. The can-art depicting the Starship Enterprise bombarding the Death Star completes the picture of (fictional) worlds colliding.

2. Bottle Logic Brewing | Motions of the Moon | Barrel-Aged Nutella Stout, 14%

For those who never tire of immense dessert stouts! As if the recipe behind this liquid fudge were not compelling enough, with toasted hazelnuts coming to the fore, this particular creation was aged up in Old Rip Van Winkle bourbon barrels. Since the whiskey itself is these days out of reach for all but the most devoted and/or oligarchical, this beer will provide an ephemeral taste thereof. “That’s no moon…”

3. Burgeon Beer | Stratooine | Hazy IPA, 6.2%

After a long day of dodging bounty hunters or working on the moisture farm, you deserve a hazy IPA. And since twin suns shine upon the world of Tatooine, those days are very long indeed, so why not make it two? Packed with a smuggler’s load of Amarillo, El Dorado and Strata, this beer glows a burnished orange like the dusty desert that surrounds this wretched hive of scum and villainy. Pull up a seat and stay a while – we do serve your kind here.
