Beers of the week July 11th, 2022

Our Bottlecraft North Park manager, Gene, selects his favorite beers of the week. You can stay up to date on our beer shop favorites through our news feed and also through our Instagram. In honor of this week’s San Diego Pride, the theme is Pride!

1. Almanac | Love | Hazy IPA, 6.1%

Love is a universal constant, and also a year-round hazy IPA with a rotating hop-bill from Almanac in the Bay Area. Around this time of the year, the version released is bedecked in rainbow colors and brewed in support of the Oakland LBGTQ Community Center in that selfsame city’s Lake Merritt district. This year’s Pride edition of Love is dry-hopped with Citra, Mosaic & Sabro. As the saying goes, “Love is love!”

2. Fremont Brewing | Pride | Kölsch, 5.5%

Fremont Brewing, located in the eponymous Seattle neighborhood, has from the outset declared its support for just and decent causes – whether in sustainable farming practices, community organization or bicycling advocacy. It is thus entirely in character that a portion of the proceeds from Pride Kölsch are donated to LGBTQ advocacy groups in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The beer itself has a gentle base of pilsner and wheat and is hopped with Hallertau and Loral for a soft landing.

3. Grimm Ales | Four Ever Rainbow | Sour Ale, 5.2%

Regardless of one’s perspective on the rainbow motif, it is an instantly recognizable shorthand visual signifier. On the label-art for this beer, it is reconstituted into the symbol for infinity, an ouroboros of a better world. This kettle sour is dosed with guava and dry-hopped with Sabro for a funky, fruity and fun time.
